The Motorola Motoluxe is a new handset from Motorola which offers an impressive range of technology, smart phone functionality and a wide range of connectivity, all of which is contained within a compact and lightweight unit which measures 117 mm x 60 mm wide whilst being 9 m thick and weighing 123 g in weight. The unit is powered by an 800 MHz processor combined with the gingerbread version of the android operating system, version 2.3.7.

The handset comes with a 4.0 inch TFT capacitive display screen which provides touchscreen functionality in conjunction with outstanding quality imagery, which is displayed within its 480 x 854 pixel screen resolution. Navigation is provided by the touch sensitive controls which are provided as well as the Moto switch user interface. Ring and vibration alert options are offered as is the ability to play MP3 and WAV ring types, in conjunction with a loudspeaker and 3.5 m Jack. Accelerometer and proximity sensors are incorporated as standard.

The handset comes with class 12 versions of GPRS and EDGE, whilst also offering Micro USB and Bluetooth connectivity. Internet access is provided either by its own 3G connection, with the ability to access the net at speeds of up to 7.2 MB, or the alternative option of Wi Fi. In addition the handset’s Wi Fi connection provides the ability to create its own Wi Fi hotspot. A micro-SD card slot is also provided which enables the user to enhance the available memory capacity within the handset up to 32 GB.

The unit also comes with an 8.0 megapixel camera that operates at 3264 x 2440 pixels and includes auto focus, geo-tagging and an LED flash as standard whilst also offering the opportunity to record video, in addition to a secondary camera which is VGA quality. The unit also provides satellite navigation by virtue of its GPS function which comes with A-GPS support, a stereo FM radio with RDS as well as an MP4/MP3 multimedia player, predictive text input capability as well as organiser, document viewer and voice memo facility.
