The Nokia 201 is a new addition to the Nokia handset range, with a modicum of functionality, but with one eye on affordability and ease-of-use. The handset comes with a QWERTY keyboard, camera as well as multimedia facilities, all of which is contained within a compact unit which measures 115 mm x 61 mm wide whilst being 14 mm thick and weighing just 105 g in weight.

The unit’s display screen is a 2.4 inch TFT display screen, which operates at a pixel screen resolution that is quoted at 320 x 240 pixels. Within this the display screen is able to display up to 256,000 colour combinations, ensuring outstanding quality imagery is displayed. The unit comes with ring and vibration alert options with the ability to utilise polyphonic and MP3 ringtones, whilst also providing hands free functionality by virtue of a loudspeaker, and the alternative option of a 3.5 mm Jack.

In terms of connectivity the unit comes with a micro-SD card slot, which offers the opportunity to increase the available memory capacity within the unit from its internal 10 MB, up to a far more substantial 32 GB. The unit comes with class 12 versions of GPRS and EDGE connections, whilst also offering Micro USB and Bluetooth options.

Additional functionality includes a 2.0 megapixel snapshot style camera which operates at 1600 x 1200 pixels and which offers not only the ability to take still imagery but also offers the option of video at 176 x 144 pixels and at 10 frames per second. The unit comes with a stereo FM radio with RDS capability which provides access to available live broadcast, whilst also offering FM recording functionality, in conjunction with a selection of games, with the option of downloading additional games. The unit also comes with an MP4/MP3 multimedia player, which is able to play a wide range of file formats, whilst the unit also comes with an organiser, predictive text input and voice memo function.

The Nokia 201 like the Nokia C2-02 offers the consumer and affordable and eminently useful mobile phone, with the backing of a well-known brand.
