The Samsung Galaxy S Advance is a handset which adds a different dimension to the Galaxy range of Samsung handsets. The unit itself is powered by a dual core 1 GHz processor combined with the gingerbread version of the android operating system, version 2.3. The unit is a compact and lightweight unit which measures 123 mm x 63 mm wide whilst being 9 mm thick and weighing 120 g in weight.

The handsets display screen is a 4.0 inch super AMOLED capacitive touch screen, which operates at a pixel screen resolution of 480 x 800 pixels, within which it can display up to 16 million colours. The screen comes with gorilla glass for durability whilst also offering touch sensitive controls and the touchwiz user interface, version 4.0 as its primary means of navigation.

In terms of memory capacity the handset is available in 8 GB and 16 GB versions, whilst also including a useful micro-SD card slot which provides the opportunity for the user to enhance the available memory by utilising relevant cards, up to the 32 GB. In terms of connectivity the unit comes with the usual elements of blue tooth and Micro USB options whilst also providing class 12 versions of GPRS and EDGE, in addition to Wi Fi connectivity and its own 3G connection which offers the opportunity to access the net at speeds of up to 14.4 Mbps.

The unit comes with a wide range of additional features which include accelerometer, gyro and proximity sensors as well as a compass, whilst also providing satellite navigation with A-GPS support. In addition an image/video editor is provided as is a document editor, organiser, stereo FM radio with RDS as well as an MP4/MP3 multimedia player. The handsets camera is a 5.0 megapixel camera which operates at 2592 x 1944 pixels and includes auto focus, touch focus, face and smile detection as well as the capability of recording video at 720 pixels and at 30 frames per second, whilst the unit provides an additional secondary 1.3 megapixel camera.
