The success of the Samsung Galaxy S4, and the increasing popularity of the phablet niche, it comes as no surprise that there is mounting speculation for the announcement of the Samsung Galaxy Note 3.

Samsung is expected to announce the latest instalment of its best selling phablet series in September, and in recent weeks there has been mounting speculation about the phone’s features. The phone is currently believed to sport a much larger display than that of the Galaxy Note 2 (which measures 5.5 inches), with rumoured measurements of between 5.7 and 6 inches. The phone is also expected to include a 13 megapixel camera, Android 4.2.2 Jellybean OS, the Galaxy Note’s trademark S-Pen stylus and Qualcomm’s powerful new Snapdragon 800 chipset.

The touchscreen of the Galaxy Note 3 will of course be its standout feature. Recently, there has been further speculation about its display. Android Authority has recently reported that new rumours have suggested that the Galaxy Note 3 may be launched in two different variants, with super AMOLED and LCD displays. The website reports that the massive demand for the Galaxy S4, coupled with high sales of Samsung’s OLED TVs has put the manufacturer’s display production capabilities under pressure. This may mean that there is a lack of resources to produce enough Galaxy Note 3 handsets with super AMOLED displays.

Bear in mind though that there was also a similar rumour regarding the Samsung Galaxy S4, but this was of course launched with a super AMOLED display on all models. Additionally, should it turn out that Samsung is unable to produce enough super AMOLED displays for the Galaxy Note 3, it can always outsource production of display panels to other companies like Sharp, which Samsung happens to own shares of. Take this information with a pinch of salt, as it is not official information from Samsung. If any more news regarding the touchscreen of the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 is revealed ahead of its announcement, we will be sure to keep you posted.
