The Nokia 1800 combines affordability with simplistic functionality

Nokia offer a diverse range of handsets which include some of the most technologically advanced units, but within this unit it has seen fit to provide a simple mobile phone which contains very little technology. The handset is squarely aimed at the second or replacement mobile phone market and as such offers limited functionality at an affordable price.
This particular handset was released in June 2010 and is a compact and lightweight unit, measuring only 107 mm x 45 mm wide was being 15 mm thick. It has a retro type styling, with a variety of buttons on the front face offering simple navigation and text entry. The unit is a lightweight unit which weighs only 78 g in weight. The units display screen is a 1.8 inch TFT display screen, which offers the ability to view imagery with the benefit of 65,000 colour options. All of this is actively displayed within a 128 x 160 pixel screen resolution.
The Nokia 1800 comes with a variety of colour options which includes silver grey, black, as well as ash blue. Standard SMS functionality is included within the handset which offers texting capabilities whilst an FM radio provides the opportunity to access a wide range of local and national radio stations. In addition to the radio a variety of games are included which offer additional means of entertainment.
As an additional means of altering the style of the handset a variety of exchangeable colour covers are included, offering the opportunity for the user to amend the style of the handset to suit their own personal taste. The handset comes with a comprehensive phone book which is able to hold up to 500 contacts, for access as and when required, whilst the call records feature within the handset retains information regarding the last 20 received, dialled and missed calls.
The handset offers the standard options of vibration or ring alerts, dependent upon the choice of the user. In addition the ability to utilise existing or downloaded MP3 files as additional ringtones, offers a simplistic means of supplementing existing options. In addition, hands free communication functionality is provided by virtue of the speakerphone. The unit also comes with an organiser as well as a voice memo facility and also includes a flashlight.
The 1800 Nokia is simplistic in nature and offers limited functionality for those who are looking for a user friendly handset that simply makes and receives phone calls without all of the clutter of numerous features.
